With even more snow forecast for the next few weeks we thought we would share with you some of our top tips to make sure your carpet isn't ruined.
The grit and salt that is used to clear our roads in this weather is unfortunately not great for our carpets. After the winter period we often go to homes where they have damaged the carpet fibres and cause patchy colour loss.
In this weather it's so important that you make sure your carpets are protected. One of the best ways you can do this is by preventing the snow and grit getting into your home in the first place. If you don't normally take off your shoes as you walk in the door then now's the time to do it. Dig out your Christmas slippers to stop the grit and salt being trampled in.
We know it's an obvious one, but vacuuming regularly with a powerful cleaner helps prevent dirt from trampling into the back of the carpet where it will wear away the fibres.
A good doormat will help prevent the dirt from trampling in, in the the first place. Ideally tou need a coir one outside and an absorbent cotton one inside. Don't forget to clean them both every week.
The trick is to soak as much of the stain out of the carpet as possible. Use a thick, folded, dry towel, place it on top of the stain and stand on it for 10 seconds.
